September 2022 Meeting Minutes

OLD BUSINESS: 1) August Social was at 5th Company. Open concept brewery, full kitchen, beer wall, very nice place.

2) AleCraft Education Series: Marc and Mike presented recipe creation. Mediocre turnout but Erin did very good with setup. Next is Art’s water class in November.

3) MD State Fair: our Schroedinger’s Cup took first place in its category. Mark and Mike took 2nd place in their category for their dark ale.

NEW BUSINESS: 1) Granite Run event is in Conowingo 9/24. Chains and Grains, can camp on site. Disc golf and beer competition.

2) Friendship Festival is October 1st 12-7PM. We have a table, if you volunteer for the event you can get in for free. We need volunteers and beer to serve: please post on Slack. We will reach out to Erin again for her jockey box.

3) Libations Cookout will be 9/17 at the Barn ~12-6PM for members and their families including kids. We need more people to consider helping us for cleanup. Deadline for signup is 9/11. We are still hoping to have a mid-year raffle. Please reach out to your Board if you want to donate any prizes. Our Christmas Party will be Friday 12/2 at the Barn for members, guests, family members all being 21y.o. and over.

4) AHA members now have access to HomebrewCon videos.

5) Marc can do a full water test via ITS. He’s done some already. If you are interested, let him know; let your tap run for a few minutes before filling the bottle. No charge.

6) Guild Holiday party is Saturday 12/3 at 6PM at Arbutus Community Association. We had 5 interested members for us to have a booth.

7) Xmas beer: is in the fermenter and we need to get it out and bottle half, keg the other half. We need volunteers to help. Date for bottling is Tuesday 9/13 at 5PM. We also need bottles and snacks. George will send his address on Slack.

8) Style of the Month September 2023 was voted to be a Pepper beer (any style beer that features any type of pepper).

FINANCIAL REPORT: $164 cash and $654.75 in bank account. Yearly insurance was just paid. 32 members currently.

MINI-TECH CORNER: none this month, we discussed the style of the month.

BEERS: Style of the month was West Coast IPA. Brewing on style: Adi and Linda, Art and Claire, Marc and Mike, Matt, Kelly, Ken. Brewing off style were Will with a Peach Wheat, Dave with a German Something, Kelly had a double IPA, Clayton a New Zealand Pils and George a Pale Ale.
